World Book Day 2021

The global pandemic hasn’t put a stop to celebrating our love of books at Hydesville as we marked World Book Day 2021 across the School in a variety of ways….

Nursery children jumped into their favourite fictional worlds by dressing up as a book character.  They also captured their own book review, listened to their favourite stories and made their own book mark.

Most pupils in Prep and Senior School are currently home-schooling but they certainly didn’t miss out on the magic.

We were delighted to see lots of Prep children had dressed up as their favourite book character.  They have studied the book, ‘Here We Are’ by Oliver Jeffers and have also been encouraged to upload a video of themselves either reading part of their favourite book, or recommending a book and say why others should read it. Children have really enjoyed sharing their love of books with each other.

The theme for Senior School is ‘Read the Rainbow’ and pupils have been encouraged to wear bright colours to symbolise the way that reading can have a positive impact on our mental health.  We have also been super impressed with pupils’ entries for the bookish bakes competition (they almost look too good to eat!).

Thank you to parents for sending in photographs today.  It’s been so lovely to see that the lockdown hasn’t stopped children’s love of reading.
