Hydesville’s wildlife heroes

Pupils in Prep School found out more about how to be citizen scientists at a special assembly from Nicky Wilner from the Birmingham and Black Country Wildlife Trust.

During last Friday’s assembly, we were also excited to officially present our cheque from the #Hydesvillefamily to support the charity’s work for nature’s recovery.

The impressive £253.51 was raised by Gursim, Zara, Simar, Avnie Mae, Mayna and Saqqara in Year 6. The kind hearted group organised lunchtime sales of homemade key rings, decorative rocks, laminated letters, mini paper books and a variety of origami products.

Emma Thompson, Head of Fundraising at the Birmingham and Black Country Wildlife Trust, said: “A huge thank you to year 6 students from Hydesville Tower School for raising over £250 to support our work for nature’s recovery – you are wildlife heroes!”

During the assembly, Nicky also had the opportunity to meet Shaan in Year 5, who has become the first ever Young Ambassador for the Trust. Shaan is a keen environmentalist and eco-friendly blogger and helps spread the word about eco-issues across Hydesville and beyond.

Birmingham and Black Country Wildlife Trust have been working for nature’s recovery for over 40 years.  There are many ways to get involved.  See their website for more information: https://www.bbcwildlife.org.uk/JoinUs
