Thank you for your interest in our school.  We are pleased to advise that despite the current coronavirus crisis, we are still able to progress your application to join us. During the COVID restrictions we are guided to meet applicants and their families virtually rather than in person. We will continue to adapt our admissions process based on Government guidelines.

The admissions process is simple and transparent and outlined in brief below. We do not have a catchment area and we welcome children of mixed abilities and many talents. We are non-selective.

You will be guided every step of the way by our experienced Admissions Manager, Mrs Christine Phillips. Children are welcome to join us at any time during the school year and into any year group, subject to a place being available. Step 1


Contact us for an initial conversation about your child and to check availability in the relevant year group. We will also be able to send you a prospectus or you can request a prospectus online. We can also send you a virtual tour of our School.

Step 2

Your application - to include registration

Following an initial conversation with our Admissions Team – and once you have confirmed you would like to begin an application – we will ask you to send us a copy of your child’s most recent school report. At this time you will also be asked to complete a registration form and pay a £50 registration fee.

Your child’s report will be reviewed by the relevant Head of School who may contact your child’s current school for more information.

Following this, we will schedule a virtual meeting via Microsoft Teams.  During this meeting, the Head of School will undertake an assessment of your child.  You will also have the chance to ask any further questions and find out more about our educational offering.

Step 3


Subject to a positive completion of the steps above, we will make a time-limited formal offer of a place for your child to join us.

If your application is for a Year 7 place in September 2021, based on your child’s assessment, we may invite your child to attend the Academic Scholarship assessment day in March 2021. Families might also be interested in our Non-Academic Scholarships.  Further details are on this page: 

Step 4


You accept (or decline) the offer, completing the necessary paperwork supplied to you in order to secure your child’s admission. Pay a deposit of £500, refunded to you when your child leaves the school.

If you accept your child’s place we will keep in touch with you to ensure a safe and smooth transition for you and your child.  We look forward to welcoming you to the Hydesville family.
