World Book Day Fun

It was lovely to see Prep and Senior School pupils come together to celebrate their passion for reading and dress up as their favourite characters for World Book Day yesterday.

In Prep School, pupils spent the day learning about aliens. For example, Year 6 discussed ‘War of the Worlds’ and produced creative pieces of writing based on this, while Year 4 studied the film clip ‘The Planets’ and created colourful holiday brochures for the each planet.

Prep pupils also did us proud with an amazing array of creative costumes – from Alice in Wonderland to Fantastic Mr. Fox. Teachers even got into the spirit, with Year 4 and 5 teachers mischievously posing around school as Wally from ‘Where’s Wally’!

Meanwhile, pupils in the Senior School had the opportunity to take part in the 100 words mini-saga and we launched the ‘Read for Good’ campaign where pupils can be sponsored to read, raising money to provide books for children in hospital.

Year 8 caused great excitement at the start of the day when they interrupted Prep School’s assembly to announce that an alien spacecraft had crash-landed in the Arboretum! This was accompanied by some video evidence and led into a day full of science-fiction activities….

It was fair to say, a great time was had by pupils and staff alike!
