Pupils celebrate superb GCSE results at Hydesville Tower School

A fantastic 96% per cent of Year 11 pupils at Hydesville Tower School in Walsall have achieved five or more A*-C GCSE grades.
A total of 34% of Hydesville’s results are A*-A, compared to 20.5% nationally, with 76% of pupils at the School gaining at least five A*-C grades including English and Maths.
Headmaster Mr McGinnes said: ““Many congratulations to the class of 2016; these results are fabulous and testament to the hard work our pupils have put in throughout their entire school career at Hydesville. I am delighted that once again our pupils have achieved the results they deserve; there really is no substitute for hard work and perseverance.”
It is another great year of exam results for the school where pupils are taught their GCSE subjects in classes of around a dozen or fewer children. Highlights include Alex Poulson and Joshua Delmas who are both celebrating an impressive six A*s and two A grades. Many Hydesville pupils surpassed their baseline Year 7 forecast by a huge margin across the board, exemplifying the school’s ability to add value to pupil progress.
This year’s results are the best to date in terms of pupils’ exceeding the baseline predictions made in Year 7. This is a national measure to determine the difference a school makes to each child’s progress and attainment. Last year Hydesville was ranked within the top 3% of senior schools based on its performance in this key area.
Miss K Nijjar, Head of the Senior School, added: “Thank you to my team of very dedicated teachers and to the parents of Year 11 for their invaluable support throughout the GCSE course.”
