It’s Fairtrade Fortnight

Today marks the start of Fairtrade Fortnight (22nd February- 7th March 2021) when thousands of individuals, companies and groups across the UK come together to share stories about the people who grow our food and drinks, mine our gold and grow the cotton for our clothes. Many of these people are often exploited and underpaid.
The pandemic has shown us more than ever how unified we are globally. This interconnection is at the very heart of the Fairtrade message and is where your role begins. You are part of the Fairtrade movement and you have the power to drive long-term change, not only with your shopping choices but with your support in spreading the message.
Mrs Jones, Teacher of Business Studies & Computer Science, has put together a number of resources, including home learning challenges for both Prep and Senior pupils and details on a national competition to create a piece of work to be exhibited in an online youth exhibition ‘Choose the world you want’. There is also a quiz for pupils to complete at home together as a family and opportunities to listen online to a number of Fairtrade speakers:

We’d love to hear from pupils who choose to enter the national competition or complete any home challenges. Please send your work to Terri.Vas@hydesville.com
