Hydesville Senior School’s Pastoral Day

On Tuesday morning, Senior pupils went off timetable for our very first Pastoral Day.
All year groups had some time to reflect on their pastoral achievements; number of merits, roles and responsibilities and also set targets on what they need to improve whether it’s arriving to school on time, remembering equipment or completing homework. They also completed a wellbeing survey to think about the three mental contributors to the Cognita Be Well Charter: connecting, giving, doing.
Having time to focus on what we are grateful for and how we can help others can generate positive emotions for the giver and receiver. Ahead of September, pupils had time to find out about the charity we are supporting, WYCE in The Gambia, and to plan a fundraising project with their form groups.
Finally we had two fantastic sessions from the company Elevate to help pupils academically with goal setting and time management. One Year 10 pupil gave the session a 10/10 – “It was good, very educational and has helped me learn valuable tools to do better.” Another pupil said “I will believe in myself and to never say I can’t.”
