Fun and learning with felt

Over the past couple of weeks Mrs Sharkey and Mrs Shaw have joined forces to lead on a cross curricular English and Art lesson to help Year 10 pupils with their understanding of their GCSE Poetry Anthology.

Pupils have been studying the Poem ‘Poppies’ by Jane Weir. Within the poem, the poet refers to textiles and felting. To understand the language used by the poet, students took part in a special practical felt making activity.  Not only was the lesson fun, it helped pupils to deepen their knowledge of key concepts within the poem.
