From Broadway to the Runway

This year’s Prep School Fashion Show was a fantastic event to close Creative Challenge Week.

The 2018 Fashion Show was given an International theme and will form part of our submission to gain an International award from the British Council.

Surrounded by parents and other members of the Hydesville family, the classes took it in turns to display their wonderful creations, taking us on a journey of seven different countries.  Reception created Hawaiian lays, Year 1 and 2 took us to Greece with their toga designs and our Year 3 senoritas wore flamenco skirts and were accompanied by their sombrero wearing Matadors, complete with castanets!

In elaborate and traditional Indian dress, Year 4 danced to the music of Jai Ho with a modern Bollywood twist, showing off their range of percussive musical instruments.  ‘Fascinating fascinators fit for a day at Ascot’ was the theme for Year 5 girls, with boys parading their collection of tailor-made top hats, using the finest materials from Milan.  The Grand Finale came from our Year 6 pupils who transported us across the continents to China, Tea Picking girls and butterfly dance and a little more!

Our glamorous compère, Mrs Whitehouse, said: “Our sincere thanks go to Mr and Mrs Panwar for their sponsorship of the materials and the bespoke hand-made Spanish skirts and toga outfits.  We are truly grateful for the time they have spent and the support they have given to our school.

“We hope parents and other invited guests enjoyed the wonderful display of Hydesville’s talent.  Creativity is so important to us as a School and Nitin’s closing comment of WE DID IT! sums up what fabulous children we have at Hydesville.”
