Commemorating Holocaust Memorial Day 2022

Pupils across Senior School have been commemorating and remembering the victims of persecution and genocide today, as part of Holocaust Memorial Day.

This international day of remembrance commemorates the six million Jews murdered during the Holocaust, alongside the millions of other people killed under Nazi persecution of other groups and in the genocides that followed across the world.

Today, January 27th, marks the anniversary of the liberalism of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi death camp.

Senior pupils have spent time during lessons commemorating and learning more about this hugely significant day in world history.  Year 11 took part in a webinar with the National Literacy Trust and listened to the testimony of Holocaust survivor, Mala Tribich. Although this was a challenging subject, pupils were able to ask appropriate and searching questions and found the experience worthwhile and thought-provoking.

At 7pm this evening, there is an opportunity to watch the UK ceremony to commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day here: https://www.hmd.org.uk/take-part-in-holocaust-memorial-day/ukhmd/
