Celebrating superb GCSE results at Hydesville

Pupils from Hydesville Tower School are celebrating excellent GCSE results today, with 98.6% of all exams achieving a “good pass” at the new Grade 4+, compared to the national average of 66.9%.

More pleasingly, 81.3% achieved a “strong pass” at Grade 5+ in English Language and 93.8% in Maths. All pupils at Hydesville achieved a Grade 7 or above in at least one subject, with almost half of the cohort securing the new top Grade 9.

We are particularly delighted with the overall number of Grade 4+ across a range of subjects – the majority of which are the new reformed, more exacting qualifications which are taken at the end of KS4 with very little or no coursework and relying completely on the performance of the pupil on the day.

In addition, we are delighted that 48.3% of all grades awarded were at 7+ (the previous A grade equivalent), compared to 20.5% nationally.   In addition, 25.6% of grades were at 8 or 9, the latter being the equivalent of an A** to show exceptional performance.

Warren Honey, Headmaster at Hydesville Tower School, said: “It is a pleasure to celebrate with our staff and pupils, who have worked so hard to achieve these results. My congratulations go to all of our GCSE pupils and I wish them every success as they take their next steps into post-16 education and beyond. These results provide a clear indication that the personalised approach taken at Hydesville gives every child the opportunity to flourish and fulfil their potential.”
